Artie Flora

Artie Flora is based in Somerset. It was started by Dawn Bowring, who is an experienced fully qualified interior designer. She has worked on many projects in the UK and overseas and these include restaurants, hotels, chateaus, villas and wonderful English country houses. Dawn has been involved in the making and design work of garden furniture for many years. Her involvement with the parasols has grown year on year with the design, quality of materials used and the construction. She works directly with craftsmen and craftswomen.

The Chair Ladies

Ilminster Emporium is home to The Chair Ladies. Traditional upholstery with a modern twist. Very often saving things from land fill, we breathe new life into pre-loved chairs and furniture. We can also re-upholster your treasured chairs in a fabric of your choice. Also undertaking the almost lost art of re-caning, which very often is demonstrated within the Emporium. Sandra and Jean have been working hard during the lock down creating some very exciting new pieces and they are now putting them on show.

Marc Wood Bespoke Joinery

Modern furniture design - traditionally handmade in Somerset from sustainable natural wood, select from our in-house designs or commission a unique, custom made piece to suit you.

We make mirrors, cabinets, picture frames and larger pieces such as tables and bookcases. Marc is a creative designer-maker of beautiful, high quality pieces; each handmade to order by Marc and our small team in our rural Somerset workshop, situated within a maker-space complex of 19th Century armland outbuildings shared among a lively local artisan community.

Inspired by our diverse west-country landscape and the fusion of modern design with traditional furniture making techniques; our thriving creative business offers modern rustic handmade furniture, mirrors and picture frames in sustainable natural wood for those who want high quality furniture design and craftsmanship with a commitment to sustainability, minimising waste and re-using materials.

Maggie Rose Clothing

Maggie Rose Clothing is a small business run out of my tiny sewing room in a sleepy village in Somerset. All the items are handmade by me making them each unique to the customer. I don’t have huge amounts of stock, but I work on a ‘made to order’ basis depending on what fabric I have available. Fabrics and sewing are my passion and I hope that comes across in the clothes I make.

Robin Morrison

Robin Morrison is an award winning and published Somerset based wildlife and landscape photographer. His work has appeared in many of the National Newspapers and has been featured on the BBC including Springwatch. A number of his beautiful images are displayed on the walls of the Emporium and all are for sale. The display is likely to change over the months to ensure that there is variety and provide more opportunity to showcase different images from his extensive catalogue. The displayed work will include such items as traditional framed images, canvasses and possibly aluminium prints. Robin also enjoys bringing his work to life through illustrated talks to organisations such as Somerset Wildlife Trust, the RSPB, Community Groups and Camera Clubs. Robin is very passionate about British wildlife and is a volunteer with the RSPB and the Taunton Peregrine project. He ensures that the animals, flora and fauna also come first and will never risk disturbing wildlife just for that one picture.

Lin Williams

Taking early retirement in 2005, I found that I had the time and the wish to paint seriously.

Being a self-taut artist means that learning comes by a way of playing and after experimenting with watercolour, oils and acrylics, I then tried pastels and immediately realised that this was my media and I haven’t looked back.

It is to catch the very essence of atmosphere and mood that feeds my desire to paint. To see the changing light, seasons and therefore the colours, I never tire of walking my favourite haunts looking and watching for that special moment that will draw my eye.

My aim with all traditional paintings is to create strength of atmosphere that invites the onlooker into a tranquil world with a slightly romantic edge.
