Artie Flora

Artie Flora is based in Somerset. It was started by Dawn Bowring, who is an experienced fully qualified interior designer. She has worked on many projects in the UK and overseas and these include restaurants, hotels, chateaus, villas and wonderful English country houses. Dawn has been involved in the making and design work of garden furniture for many years. Her involvement with the parasols has grown year on year with the design, quality of materials used and the construction. She works directly with craftsmen and craftswomen.

The Chair Ladies

Ilminster Emporium is home to The Chair Ladies. Traditional upholstery with a modern twist. Very often saving things from land fill, we breathe new life into pre-loved chairs and furniture. We can also re-upholster your treasured chairs in a fabric of your choice. Also undertaking the almost lost art of re-caning, which very often is demonstrated within the Emporium. Sandra and Jean have been working hard during the lock down creating some very exciting new pieces and they are now putting them on show.

Marc Wood Bespoke Joinery

Modern furniture design - traditionally handmade in Somerset from sustainable natural wood, select from our in-house designs or commission a unique, custom made piece to suit you.

We make mirrors, cabinets, picture frames and larger pieces such as tables and bookcases. Marc is a creative designer-maker of beautiful, high quality pieces; each handmade to order by Marc and our small team in our rural Somerset workshop, situated within a maker-space complex of 19th Century armland outbuildings shared among a lively local artisan community.

Inspired by our diverse west-country landscape and the fusion of modern design with traditional furniture making techniques; our thriving creative business offers modern rustic handmade furniture, mirrors and picture frames in sustainable natural wood for those who want high quality furniture design and craftsmanship with a commitment to sustainability, minimising waste and re-using materials.

Forget Me Not Designs

Gifts, signs, art and homewares for all occasions.

Based in rural Somerset on the outskirts of Ilminster, Melanie loves to source natural textured materials such as wood and slate for creative re-purposing and up-cycling.

An array of slate products such as signs, plant labels, coasters, place-mats and table centres for weddings, can be found which are all hand-cut to size and shape; squares, rectangles and hearts included.

Signs and decorations are uniquely hand painted using a brush (no paint pens allowed here!), with various wording, quirky quotes and mandala style designs. All signs are wax finished for protection unless stated for outdoor use; in which case they are finished with a durable Yacht varnish.

Signs can also be made to order on request and personalised for that extra special touch!

The challenge for her as a wildlife artist is to capture their spirit, not just their shape, getting their character on paper without seeming static is possible with watercolours. It's all about the energy!

In addition to watercolour wildlife art for your walls, there is beautiful kitchenware for your home or stationery for the office, there's plenty of choice.

Chokoleti

At Chokoleti we produce a range of delicious handmade artisan chocolates.

Great Taste means the world to us - and probably to you too. Thats why we choose our chocolate wisely. The taste is more than just the skill of our Chocolatier , it starts at the source with the love and passion of the cocoa farmers.

Their care for the soil, the forests and the earth make the cocoa trees thrive. Their craftmanship yields better cocoa beans, full of taste.

We make a choice to use chocolate that sides with the cocoa farmers in West Africa.

We are trying to be more considerate of our planet and therefore you will find that we are slowly changing our packaging to products that are easily biodegradable and compostable.

Enjoy our chocolate to the fullest, knowing that in every bite you'll taste the unique taste of craftmanship.

Spiffing Yarns

We make a cushion that is equally at home in an interior scheme or in the garden. Our cushions are waterproof but without the plasticky feel. Our indoor/outdoor cushion will dry quickly as the soft polyester repels water, so no worries if you forget to bring in your outdoor cushion for the night; the handmade case is also stain and rot resistant. Our adaptable fabric is cunningly woven to look and feel like natural brushed cotton.
